I'd never really thought about it before this, what my favorite brand is. In all the years I've been buying & using makeup, I've been more interested in individual pieces of makeup than entire brands. I've heard this and that about this brand and that brand, I've had things I've loved and things I haven't loved from all the brands I've tried. But over the time that I've been blogging, I've noticed a pattern: I tend to recommend Benefit Cosmetics over and over again.
I have been using it for years, and I have always had things that I love from Benefit, but this thought has actually gone through my head in the past: "I love these Benefit products, but for the most part I don't think Benefit is that great." I loved the bombshell, pin-up thing they have going, but didn't think the products themselves (other than my faves) were that great.
Well, I don't know if the makeup changed or I did, but as time has gone on and I've continued to try Benefit products, Benefit has become my favorite cosmetics brand. There's something in every category of products that I just love and, more importantly, would recommend to anyone asking. Take a look!
BADgal lash, $19 -- This is a recent rediscovery for me. I have used BADgal in the past, but as you know, I am on a constant hunt for mindblowing mascara. So, naturally, I move from mascara to mascara frequently and moved on from BADgal a while back. I recently received a deluxe sample of the mascara and rediscovered my love for it. It's not overwhelming, but it's a great brush and a great amount of product applied to the lashes. I think it has made the list of mascara classics that I can always depend on (joining Avon's SuperSHOCK Max and Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes!).
Lemon Aid, $20 -- This product is one of the very first I bought from Benefit, back in high school. I have been blessed with purple under eye circles (thank you, family genes) and, as you may or may not know, yellow is opposite purple on the color wheel. They are complementary colors and therefore cancel each other out. So purple under eye circles + yellow Lemon Aid = no more under eye circles! Honest truth: I wish the formula were a little creamier, but it still tops the list of favorite under eye neutralizers.
Girl Meets Pearl, $30 -- Benefit provides multiple options for your highlighting needs, and I got Girl Meets Pearl when I purchased my favorite-ever makeup set which is no longer available, The Pretty Committee. Girl Meets Pearl is the most beautiful, natural looking highlighter I've ever seen. It's not sparkly or shimmery, it's just a soft, pearlescent glow. I apply it with my Beauty Blender to the top of my cheek bones and it is magic! It's also fantastic mixed in with your foundation (talk about a healthy glow!).
Hoola, $28 -- How many times does someone have to tell you that Hoola is the best matte bronzer out there? Go buy it! There's not much I have to say about Hoola, because it is just everything. Great for adding a glow, great for contouring. Just go for it.
Stay Don't Stray, $26 -- This eye primer pulls double duty as both an under eye primer and an eyeshadow primer. Bonus: it's tinted, so it adds coverage. Originally, they only made one color; now they make two! And for real, this stuff makes your concealer and eyeshadow stick. I'm not kidding. It's the best eye primer I've ever tried.
Benetint, $30 -- I stayed away from Benetint for a long time because I was scared of the word "stain" paired with such a dark color. I got a little mini version from Ulta (free gift with purchase, I think?) and finally tried it out. The great thing about this stain is that it's buildable, and it doesn't start out as dark as it looks. It goes on as a pretty pink, and gets darker and brighter the more you apply. It's a great color that would look great on anybody, and you don't have to worry that you'll have a permanent berry blotch on your face if you aren't perfect in your application.
Sugarbomb Ultra Plush, $16 -- I know I've talked about them before, but Benefit makes eight or nine face powders (they call them Box o' Powder and they deserve an entry of their own), and they're all beautiful. You'll hear more about them in a sec, but sometime in the last 6 or 8 months (I'm not sure when, I wasn't paying attention) they developed ultra plush lip glosses matching each of the face powders. Genius, right? Sugarbomb gloss is a beautiful, shimmery nude with the softest, creamiest texture I've ever felt in a lip gloss. It doesn't last that long (glosses never do), but it feels amazing on the lips and adds a little nude to whatever color you've got going on. Love, and can't wait to try the other colors!
Hervana, $28 -- Okay, so here's one of those Boxes o' Powder that I was talking about (of which Hoola is one, as well). Hervana is absolutely gorgeous. It's this beautiful purply, corally pink with a tiny tiny bit of pearlescense. This is one of the few multi-colored face powders, and I just think it's such a pretty blush. What can I say about it? It's just beautiful.
Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer, $32 -- I definitely saved the best for last, you guys. If you haven't heard about this from me yet, you must be new here because I love this primer. Hands down, best primer I've ever used. Does exactly what it says on the box. Your makeup will last all day, you will not need to touch up (lips excluded), and you will look as amazing at 10:00pm as you looked when you did your makeup at 7:30am. If there's one thing from Benefit that you can buy, buy this. I can't say it enough! It's their most stand-out product, and there's nothing else like it.
The great thing about Benefit is that these aren't even all of my favorites. There are so many more - like Eye Bright, Watt's Up, Erase Paste, They're Real!, Hello Flawless! Oxygen Wow, and the POREfessional.
Do you have some favorite Benefit products that I didn't mention here? I'd love to try more! What's your favorite makeup brand?
