Welcome to the fifth review of the Bloggers Christmas Beauty Brawl! We're HALFWAY THROUGH! For the past four days and the next six days (including today), three other bloggers and I will be reviewing ten products each, from the same categories, by the same standards. We'll honestly review and score all of our purchases, and at the end of the ten days whichever blogger chose the best products (has the highest score) will win a prize. Fun for both of us: reviews for you, prezzies for me (I hope!).
Today we're reviewing our choices for a foundation, and my product choice is L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. I heard about this from a fellow blogger a few months ago and really wanted to try it, but I need more foundation like I need a hole in my head. So when I got set up with the #bxbeautybrawl I knew I had to try this for my foundation pick.
I'm not someone who suffers from oily skin (mine is actually dehydrated), but about halfway through the day I get a little shiny, so I like matte foundations. I also really don't want to have to touch up my makeup, like at all, so the longer a foundation will stick, the better. That's why I was so pumped to try this foundation.
To get through the boring details, this foundation's packaging is pretty standard and much like the status quo for primers these days. I find that it's not the best seal and the applicator tip can get a little messy, but it doesn't leak out of the package when it's closed. It smells relatively innocuous; nothing strong or perfume-y like some other foundations can have.
The first time I used it I applied it with my fingers and I was very impressed with the texture. It's incredibly like and soaks into the skin quickly as opposed to sitting on top of it, yet it provides a really good amount of coverage (I'd say medium) for something so light. Because of how quickly it soaks in, I found that applying it with my fingers was not my favorite because I would always have some splotches that I'd missed, and it would be hard to blend because the foundation had already soaked in and dried. I use a Real Techniques sculpting brush instead.
I get shiny halfway through the day and I touch my face a lot, so my makeup tends to rub off pretty easily. I use powder every day to counteract that. With this foundation, I have never felt like I need powder. My skin feels like skin, and when I touch my face I don't have foundation-covered fingertips or a mark on my face where that foundation had previously been. I adore that about this foundation!
So does it last (isn't that what we all want from a foundation?)? It totally does. I was majorly impressed with the longevity of this foundation!
At $12.99 I feel like this is perfectly priced; you don't need much, so you're not going to go through it quickly, and it's an awesome foundation for being a drugstore foundation. It's available wherever L'Oreal is sold, which is... everywhere.
When I first introduced the Bloggers Christmas Beauty Brawl, I mentioned that some of these products have made it into the makeup arsenal from which I choose on a daily basis, and some have not. The L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation has 100% made it into the arsenal, and I have used it every single day since the first day I tried it. Definitely recommend!
